29/01 Wednesday. Class 7

Hello!
Today we´ve listened to your presentations about Festivals in Spain. They were all very interesting. Those who haven´t spoken you have the chance to do it next class.

Common mistakes: people/children (no article), on the 12th of August, the festival is celebrated, people sing songs, drink, dance etc. (NOT dancing, drinking, singing).

British celebrate one day with fireworks -
Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night  (November 5th).
We´ve read about the origin of this holiday, who Guy Fawkes was and what he did.
Remember the vocabulary (catholics, king, blow up, cellars, gunpowder, barrels, plotters, fireworks, dummy).

We watched a short video about how British celebrate this day and learnt some useful vocabulary: to let off fireworks, bonfire, dummy/effigy/ragdoll Guy Fawkes, torchlit processions, kick off the fireworks etc.
Watch the video again.

If you want to know more about the history, watch a short video about what happened that day and who Guy Fawkes was.

People usually recite this small poem this day:
Remember, remember, the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and plot;
I see of no reason why Gunpowder Treason

Should ever be forgot.

Next week we´re starting a new topic "Eat in or out".
Your homework is to find the food and its names in your copies and revise the grammar points.
